To pay for a generator and installation, only to find the generator will not run what you need to run would be a big disappointment...spend a few moments adding the wattage requirements for your home, each installation is unique.
To the basic needs of 9600 watts add the other appliances you must run in an emergency power outage...be conservative, the more you add, the more you will pay for a generator!
When in doubt check the UL tag on the back of each appliance to determine starting wattage
